I'm thinking about buying myself a proper graphics tablet since using one has become quite essential to me at work. To be honest, everytime I think about doing something creative at home my first though is "wait, you'd need a graphics tablet for that. Well... Bulletstorm, here I come!". That's unbearable.

Any suggestions? It should be medium sized and not too expensive.

Ich empfehl dir das Wacom Intuos 4 M A5 wide. Das hat mein Bruder auch. Kostet um die 300 Euro. Hat einen Ring an der Seite mit dem man das Bild in Echtzeit drehen kann. Sehr praktisch!

In your line of work I would consider a Wacom CINTIQ , but since you mention budget I'd go with Wacom Intuos 4 - SMALL , it has 6 express keys , with a touch ring controls up to four functions , working area size 3.9"x6.2" ($229) , and it includes a mouse.
There are bigger size in the Intuos four series. If you're looking for something less then that you can always consider the Wacom "Bamboo"( I personally own one) 3 different sizes ($69-$129-$199), 4 buttons , pen and Multi-Touch input features ,the working area varies , from a size 5.8" x 3.6" to 7.5" x 5.1". (Including: Adobe Photoshop Elements, Corel Painter Essentials, Nik photographic filters, if buy from Wacom the)
Hope this help.

wacom is a little expensive in some models but, if you need to work i think of that is the best buy (more quality = more time using without problem)

Anyway the size depends of your style. If you "draw with arm" (you always move you arm when drawing and need much space) the bigger size is for you. But i use an 8x6 and, for me, its a very good size.

Should add that he seems to find it running a bit slow on Windows 7, so maybe that cuts them as an option.

Could also look at Genius tablets. I know Faz uses one, and there's an 8x6 that's like $50 +S/H from Newegg. -> [link] Faz is using this -> [link] and says it works all right. Works with openCanvas, at the very least.

Suppose shopping around Newegg may help in general, and google may or may not prove useful.
